Public Relations Manager
We recruit high-potential candidates to work with some of the best companies, start-ups, and agencies in South Florida. For this particular role, our client is seeking a public relations manager be responsible for developing and implementing creative and distinctive ideas and plans that position the company favorably. Work daily to publicize the brand and its initiatives as well as manage publicity events, trips and new launches.
Scope of Work
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute publicity engagement events and trips.
- Proactively pitch media.
- Build and maintain press office materials including executive bios, the company backgrounder, media lists, and press kits.
- Respond to media inquiries in a clear and timely fashion.
- Draft reactive statements, spokesperson briefing documents, key messaging, etc.
- Review and help develop the brand’s media metrics report.
- Develop and execute media strategies relating to upcoming launches and relaunches, press trips, and conferences, and other innovative campaigns to position the brand as a leader in the industry.
- Surface publicity, promotion, and engagement opportunities.
- Identify areas of opportunity in various situations and offer recommendations.
- Work closely with a variety of departments within the company to eloquently tell the brand’s story to multiple audiences.
- Evaluate brand and competitor media coverage analytics; present results and identify opportunities to strengthen the brand’s share of voice and image.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver clear, concise, and thoughtful messaging.
- Resolution focused; considers all relevant information and details to recommend solutions/alternatives to problems and issues; presents solutions for any communication challenges that may arise and anticipates possible obstacles in advance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, or related field required; or any equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in journalism, public relations and/or communication required. Hospitality and/or cruise industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and thoughtfully.
- Strong ability to tailor messages based on the audience.
- Ability to understand the subject matter and the purpose of the communication.
- Must be able to ask the right questions, listen, and draft a compelling message to meet desired results.
- A journalistic style of writing is preferred.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, showcasing the confidence to present new ideas and processes to the team. Strong organizational skills to flawlessly manage multiple projects at once. Strong attention to detail.
- Must be deadline-oriented to complete work in a timely manner and accurately.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate earned media coverage and the ability to communicate results to various audiences.
- Must be a passionate and positive go-getter who is adaptable and reliable and must always represent the department and the company professionally. Must be able to engage in open and honest communication with management and internal stakeholders. Ability to take initiative to move the business forward and make recommendations/suggestions for improvements.
- Ability to understand priorities and plans appropriately to meet deadlines, while allowing for opportunities for review and feedback.
- Builds and fosters positive relationships within the organization, partners, media, and influencers. Experience with media monitoring and database platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Flexible schedule and ability to travel.
