Upcoming News + Events Since I launched, L'epic Miami we've been busy identifying job opportunities for our community, coaching candidates through their job search and cultivating community and collaborations. Hiring the right person or team can be a challenge. It’s like dating but potentially more expensive, especially if you go from “first date” to “exclusive”, but with a person who isn’t right for you. Metaphors aside, combing through resumes, vetting skills, running referrals, interviewing finalists can take months. Meanwhile, pending projects for the new hire remain orphan or are dumped on existing employees. Let’s do something about it. This is what job search planning looks like. You take several micro actions to piece together a plan that will help you reach your end goal and ideally land your next job opportunity. Simple right? 😁 It’s so exciting to imagine all the possibilities and all the places you’ll go. But then you realize you need to put in the work, time and consistency so you begin to feel overwhelmed and doubtful about your capabilities. I get it. It’s happened to me. So I came up with a strategy within the context of creating daily micro actions to reach my goal. I work with clients utilizing these ideas in order to work around these negative thoughts, and create a focused strategy. Many clients had no idea there was such a thing as a job search strategy, quite a few have never really had to look for work because they’ve always had opportunities come their way. I’m fascinated by the idea of cultivating one’s full potential. Maslow coined the term “Metamotivation” describing the motivation of people who strive for constant betterment. It takes daily practice. For me, my early morning dog walks, exercise, meditation are always a part of a winning ritual to set myself up for success. My weeks are often planned but I always leave room for inspired action. Much of my metamotivation comes from aligning myself to take action on the work that gives me joy while trying new things. Early on in my career I had a boss who I admired very much. He was the epitome of style, culture and confidence. I knew that working with him was a step in the right direction because he was honest, bold and unapologetic. He challenged me but also supported my career ambitions. Moving to NYC to pursue career growth in the fashion industry was essential and while I did not have a 5 year plan, I did have a clear vision. It was a bold move and we did it! I landed in the city and created my own job opportunity, developing my intrapreneurial skills by building an in-house production division, working with top talent producing fashion shows and national campaigns. It was a dream come true! The right support was so empowering to make that move.
